WE HAVE FOR SALE A SOLIDLY BUILT SEAWORTHY HOUSEBOAT (SHED BOAT) ON A MOORING AT CABBAGE TREE POINT (NEAR JACOBS WELL), QLD.

IT WAS BUILT IN 1999, BUT SINCE THEN WE HAVE HAD KIDS AND HAVE NO TIME TO GO DOWN AND STAY ON IT.

IT NEEDS ALOT OF TLC INSIDE AND OUT (ENQUIRIES ONLY FROM PEOPLE WHO ARE CONFIDENT AT DIY, OTHER THAN THAT IT IS A GREAT PLACE TO RELAX AND UNWIND ON WEEKENDS AWAY FROM THE CITY.
The "Shedboat" is 7.5 metres overall.  1/2 a metre for the front deck (just for dealing with the anchor etc.) 5 1/2 metres cabin space and 1 1/2 metres for the back deck.  Beam is 3.6 metres.  Cabin is 3 metres wide.  Floats are 12mm wall polyethylene irrigation pipe x 4 (caps and mounting points professionally welded).  The outer two floats are filled with empty 200 litre drums to provide sealed compartment emergency buoyancy.

The deck rests on 3.6 metres long 200 x 50 treated pine beams and 100 x 50 joists held together with stainless steel bolts.  The deck is 12mm ply under the cabin and treated pine planking "outside".

The cabin is standard house framing pine.  The outer skin is 4mm hardwood ply.  The windows are domestic aluminium sliding units.  The roof is corrugated iron.

Inside there are 3 rooms.  Up front, drivers station and a bench seat that folds out big enough for a double airbed.  In the middle (on one side) is the toilet and shower.  The back section is the kitchen and living area.

Four people can spend the weekend quite comfortably.

It has a 25hp Mariner outboard.  12 volt electrics, fluoros, etc.

With a little money and some DIY ability you could fix the following list of problems.
  • The roof needs replacing (starting to rust through) about $300 for corrugated iron.  It lasted nearly 11 years.
  • A couple of the windows have been smashed.  Probably best to remove them and replace with complete second hand units.
  • Some @%!@&()-% has broken the gear case on the outboard (a trip to the wreckers at Yatala would probably put that right).
  • It needs a good coat of paint.
