Wanted: cairns to cap trib trip (who wants to hire a car for a week?)

Hi, I am arriving in cairns tomorrow and want to get out of the city on the asap... i'm looking to find some top snorkelling spots and rainforest action. Seen as i don't have a car anymore i want to hire one and have a good look round myself instead of getting on a tour with a bus full of gringos.

I reckon I'd like to spend a week travelling up to Port Douglas, check out the beaches along the way, go to the Daintreee national park, do some canopy surfing, and a snorkelling tour out from cap trib. I have camping equipment for myself but I am open to looking at hiring a camper van so that way you could have somewhere to camp down too.

I'm pretty easy going, I've been in Oz for about a year and want to carry on having an adventure so come join in, pretty please
