What’s on in July – A delicious six course degustation menu and brilliant music will delight guests at the Australian Festival of Chamber Music’s 2009 Chefs in the North Dinner.
Held on Thursday 30 July, the 2009 Chefs in the North dinner is an exclusive not to be missed event on the Australian Festival of Chamber Music’s (AFCM) calendar. Hosted by food and wine personality Lyndey Milan, dinner is served in a spectacular marquee on the grassy lawns of presenting partner Jupiter’s Townsville. Some of Australia’s and New Zealand’s leading chefs will prepare a tantalising six course degustation menu for guests.
Highlighting the best of local produce the meal will be superbly complimented by wines from Brown Brothers and Wine Fusion and guests will be entertained between courses by special performances from visiting chamber music artists.
David Pugh, Co-Owner and Chef of Restaurant Two and Bistro Three in Brisbane, and who is Executive Chef on the night says “the annual Chefs in the North dinner ... brings together some of Australia and New Zealand’s most talented chefs with some of Townsville’s most promising young chefs, whilst showcasing a brilliant music programme.”
The other visiting chefs are: Ian Curley of the much-loved Melbourne bistro The European; Nick Holloway, Chef and Co-Owner of Nu Nu in Palm Cove, Regional Restaurant of the Year in Gourmet Traveller’s 2008 Restaurant Guide Awards; Chris Taylor, Head-Chef at Perth favourite Fraser’s; Michael Van de Elzen, Chef at Auckland’s award-winning bistro Molten; and Sydney baker Christopher Thé from Black Star Pastry, former pastry-chef at Sydney luminaries Quay and Claude’s.
Now in its 19th year, the Australian Festival of Chamber Music (AFCM) has developed an international reputation for its distinguished artists and innovative programming to become the largest chamber music festival in Australia, and one of the most diverse. Between 31 July and 8 August 2009, Townsville once again plays host to the annual winter event, attracting some of the finest chamber musicians from around the world.
