This is a rare opportunity for a senior litigator to combine these skills with a positive community benefit working with this leading Indigenous organisation based in the heart of Brisbane CBD.

This position is well suited to a lawyer with at least eight years post-admission legal experience with a strong background in Civil (especially Federal Court) litigation or Native Title matters as well as a broad commercial focus to deal with in-house legal, policy, risk-management and governance issues as they arise.

As part of the senior management team and working closely with the CEO, you will lead a team of lawyers, anthropologists, researchers and community liaisons and field workers.

You will have a proven track record in project management and be able to effectively manage teams of cross-disciplinary professionals.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Eligibility for an unrestricted Queensland practising certificate;
• Understanding of the cultural, social, economic and political issues facing the Indigenous people of Queensland;
• Experience with/appreciation of Indigenous issues and Native Title legal matters;
• High level legal strategic advice and negotiation skills;
• Management, interpersonal, cross-cultural and leadership skills;
• Political and business acumen to work closely with and build relationships with various stakeholders including traditional owners.
