Where we live: Goondiwindi, Queensland, Australia. Western Queensland about 400kms west of Brisbane. Here's a little bit on the Andrews family: Hannah-15 years old. Hamish- 12 1/2 years. Very athletic. Kicks a ball around a lot....rides his motorbike. OK at school and does his homework on time all the time... Harrison- 9 years old. Very friendly boy who likes to have stories read to him. He is also sporty-plays soccer and little athletics. Enjoys swimming but needs help with it too. He has made some lovely friends since we have been here and likes to have them come and play. Needs some (a lot) of help with homework but will do it with encouragement. Monte- 3 years old . Just gorgeous and of course spoilt by all. He is very happy, eats a lot. Has a bath at 6pm, dinner and bed by 8pm. Sleeps all night and starts the day at 6 ish. He is very active, very fast and loves outdoor play in the sandpit etc. Loves going for rides on the bike and being pushed in the pram. He is at that busy stage. He loves going to the pool but of course cannot swim so needs 100% supervision. (I have a huge fear of children near the pool) Mark - husband, father- farmer and truck driver. Kerryanne: Mother/midwife/housewife: Doing shift work and required to be on call after hours. I like to have a neat and clean house. Do big housework once a week and like to keep on top of things during the week. Would require assistance with this especially when I do a few shifts in a row. On days off I like to garden, spend time with children, go out for dinner, shop. Expectations of au pair: Fun responsible person who is interested in helping the children with homework, organizing activities so they don't get too bored, willing to discipline when misbehaviour, able to cook meals when I am at work. As we are a little way out of town, too far to walk the days at home can be long so it is good if you are able to entertain yourself (reading, writing etc) especially when kids at school and Monte is asleep. As I hope to only work 3-4 days per week I encourage person to get out and about. I work on a rostered basis and my roster is out in advance so it is easier to organize social outings, sightseeing etc. Animals: We have a dog MAX who is a troublesome golden retriever. A minx cat Dolly and her kitten lebaline. There are also chooks and budgies. Accommodation: Separate room attached to the garage with queen size bed and own toilet/shower room. Air conditioned and heating. Goondiwindi: to find out more about this great town please do a Google. Very sporty town with great gym, ovals, tennis, bowls, pool etc. Getting about: My car is always with me but I have a good bike that is available for use. There are also taxi's here and a school bus morning and afternoons. If you feel safe to drive here I do have a 2nd car that you can use. Payment: As I work only part-time I am willing to pay `$200/week. (Australian) cash. Basically we are a very laid back Australian family who enjoy the simple things. A good combination of solid family values, education and sport completes our day. We do have bad days where the children are naughty and tired and sometimes I don’t feel like doing much if work has been busy. In general I do hate lying around when there is work to be done. When it is all done, rest up! The kids totally know this rule and I have them cleaning, bed making and vacuuming often. We also have very active times where we don’t seem to stop running from place to place. Off to the city shopping, sports carnivals, parties etc. So, if you think we look like a family you could live with and have some fun with please let me know.
