August - November 2008 On Call Communications, Paddington
Calling team (casual)
Here I worked as a fundraiser, raising donations for the Oncology Children’s Foundation, based at the Westmead Childrens’ Hospital in Sydney.
It was a cold calling role in which we contacted the public, informed them of our research and asked for one off donations to help fund the research.
The key responsibility of this role was to build rapport and engage with the public in order to create a positive public image.
July – August 2008 Smart Group, Fortitude Valley
Calling team (casual)
Currently working as a caller selling ‘Green Power by Simply Energy’ to customers whose gas and electricity is still coal powered.
The key focus as a Smart Group caller is to explain the environmental and financial benefits of switching to clean renewable energy and persude the customer into receiving a Simply Energy Welcome Pack.
April - July 2008 Paretophone, Fortitude Valley
Calling team (full time)
Worked as a caller on behalf of charities such as the World Wide Fund for Nature, the Cancer Council NSW, The Lost Dog’s home, The Alfred Hospital, Amnesty International and Caritas Australia.
There were three forms of calling which I performed. This involved asking one off donors to commit to a monthly donation, asking monthly supporters to increase their donation and asking previous supporters to reactivate their support.
The key role of a caller at Paretophone was to represent the charity in a positive light and demonstrate a high level of donor care. As ‘sales’ are not always possible, it was equally important to build a strong relationship with the donor on behalf of the charity.
