Howdy there, perspective sensei. My name is Shae Pollock and my heart pumps ink. What I really mean is, that when I was told by teachers in high school that I had to choose a career pretty much then and there, I looked at the page covered in doodles in front of me and knew there was nothing else I'd ever do as good as Art.
I have no formal artistic training, but I have had a pencil in my hand for my whole life. That may mean nothing to you, but for me, art is the only thing that can't be taken from me, short of severing my hands...
Here's the selling myself paragraph:
I'm 19 in September, do basically nothing but sketch, draw, paint and experiment. I [think I] have an energetic personality and a real sense of self, although at times I can be a liiittle bit morbid. I have a brain, and I ain't afraid to use it. I'm not at all run-o-the-mill, conventionalism isn't my thing... I'm mostly into metal, AUSSIE hip-hop & 70's tunes, but I'll listen to pretty much anything without complaint. ['Cept country music, and meaningless rap] My favourite styles of tattooing are cartoon, stencil, black and gray shaded work, [Which is something I'm practicing on paper at the moment] and pin-up. Pin-ups are definitley my speciality at this stage, but I would love to become fluent in all styles. I'm not a huge fan of tribal or Chinese symbols on a certain kind of person, because I believe they should be strictly reprasentative of cultural background. Also not too keen on "I love thisguyimetamonthago" sort of things. If chosen, I WILL be dedicated to arriving on time, adhering to sterilization standards, and absorbing everything I possibly can about the trade.
I live on the Southside of Brisbane and am only on my L's, so I don't have a reliable mode of transport. I do have a few people who could provide a lift sometimes, but I live close to public transport and would be happy to go from Logan or Ipswich to the CBD.
Respect is extremely important to me, and although anyone hiring me would essentially be a muse, I do have to say as a young female I am going to have issues with anyone who decides it is appropriate to make a move on me, or a sexual comment in reference to myself. That is totally unacceptable behaviour and I will NOT tolerate it.
Having said that, I would now like to direct attention towards some sample work. I don't believe it is the best I can do, it's mostly just recent work but I hope you see enough potential in it to grant me further consideration. Thankyou so much.
